SERVICEVAI

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how ServiceVai ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information. It applies to both the ServiceVai web app (servicevai.com) and the ServiceVai provider mobile app for Android (collectively, the "Services"). By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to this Policy.

1. Who we are

ServiceVai is a two-sided local-services marketplace based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Customers post service jobs and verified service providers compete with blind bids. We act as the data controller for the personal data described below.

2. Information we collect

a. Account information

  • Your name, email address, and phone number.
  • Your password, which is stored only as a salted one-way hash — we never see or store it in plain text.
  • Your role (customer or service provider) and account status.

b. Identity verification (service providers)

  • A government ID document (National ID or Trade License) that you upload.
  • A live selfie captured through your device camera, used to confirm you match your ID.
  • Your service categories (skills) and service areas (zones).

These documents are used solely to verify provider identity and are accessible only to you and our authorised review staff.

c. Service and job data

  • Job requests you create, including titles, descriptions, photos, and voice notes you attach.
  • Bids, hires, job progress, and completion status.
  • Messages exchanged between customers and providers through our in-app chat.
  • Invoices generated for completed jobs.

d. Payment information

  • To post a job, customers pay a small posting fee via bKash. We record the bKash transaction reference and sender number you provide so we can verify the payment.
  • We do not collect or store card numbers or bKash PINs. Payment is processed through bKash, subject to their own terms and privacy policy.

e. Device & technical information

  • A push-notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can deliver job alerts and message notifications to your device.
  • App version, device type, and basic connection information.
  • For analytics and security: your IP address, which we store only in a masked and salted-hashed form, plus an approximate city/country derived from it, pages viewed, and session activity.

f. Location

ServiceVai matches jobs by administrative area/zone and category that you choose — not by continuous GPS tracking. The mobile app does not track your precise real-time location in the background. We may infer an approximate city from your IP address for analytics.

3. How we use your information

  • To operate the marketplace — create accounts, post jobs, run blind bidding, and enable hiring.
  • To match providers with relevant jobs in their zone and category.
  • To verify provider identity and maintain trust and safety.
  • To send push notifications, including the real-time "incoming job" alert and chat/invoice updates.
  • To verify posting-fee payments and generate invoices.
  • To detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and security issues.
  • To understand usage through aggregate analytics and to improve the Services.
  • To provide customer support and respond to your requests.

4. Push notifications

The mobile app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver notifications such as new matching jobs, chat messages, and invoice updates. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings; doing so will stop job alerts but will not otherwise disable your account.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only as needed to run the Services:

  • Between matched users: when a provider bids and a customer hires, relevant details (such as name and contact information needed to complete the job) become visible to the other party.
  • Service providers we rely on: Google Firebase (push notifications and app infrastructure) and our hosting provider. These process data on our behalf under their own terms.
  • Payments: bKash, to confirm posting-fee transactions.
  • Legal reasons: where required by law, regulation, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of ServiceVai and its users.

6. Data retention

We keep account and job data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services and meet legal obligations. Analytics records older than 90 days are exported to a secure archive and then purged from the live database. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data, except where we must retain certain records (for example, financial or legal records).

7. Security

We protect your data with industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), one-way hashed passwords, masked and salted-hashed IP storage, and access controls that limit who can view sensitive documents. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and continuously improve our safeguards.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Access and update your profile information from within the app.
  • Turn push notifications on or off in your device settings.
  • Request a copy of your data, correction, or deletion of your account by contacting us.
  • Withdraw consent for optional processing where applicable.

9. Children's privacy

The Services are intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us so we can remove it.

10. Third-party services

Our Services rely on third parties including Google Firebase (notifications and infrastructure) and bKash (payments). Your use of those features is also subject to those providers' privacy policies. External links from our Services are not covered by this Policy.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the Services. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
